About the book:
Her daughter, Mandy, had died in the icy waters of Lake St. Claire, Michigan, three years ago—or so widow Joanne Fuller was told. At the urging of family friend Ben Drake, Joanne tried to accept her loss and move on. But mysterious phone calls reawakened her doubts. Was someone trying to reunite her with Mandy? In a frantic search for her daughter during the season of hope, Joanne unraveled the web of one man's hatred…and came face-to-face with the truth she'd known all along.
My review of Finding Christmas:
I always knew Gail could write a terrific romance with a strong Christian message, but I had no idea that she could write suspense as well. I love surprises like that, especially from one of my favorite authors. This book was longer than any of Gail’s other books, which was good because the suspense of the story added another dimension and it was great to see Gail spend a little more time developing it. And she developed it so well.
Finding Christmas is actually a re-release from 2005 and I am so glad that the folks at Love Inspired decided to release this book again for Christmas. We are really getting into the busiest part of the Christmas season and I have found that Finding Christmas is just the right book to snuggle up with at the end of a chilly, busy day. It gave me just the right amount of everything I love about Gail’s writing without being too heavy.
This story deals with some serious issues and situations which one might think would be too heavy for a Christmas book, but no, that is not the case. One of my favorite things about this book was the balance, something Gail has always been good at. Among that wonderful balance were characters who were every bit has flawed and real all of us. It was easy to get lost in this story and see these characters grow and learn.
I think I say this every time I read one of Gail’s books, but I think this is my favorite so far. The suspense added a lot to an already good story. It’s not too late to get your copy of Finding Christmas. It is truly an inspirational Christmas story.
